작업을 하면서 느꼈던 공예의 아름다움, 손작업이 주는 평온과 집중의 시간을 공유할 수 있는 공간이 우리의 삶에 필요하다는 생각으로 자연스러운 손의 움직임의 뜻을 가진 ‘수연소’ (手然所) 를 기획하였습니다.

‘수연소’ 는 누구나 쉽게 공예를 경험할 수 있는 열린 공간으로써 손을 통해 창작하고 공예의 가치를 만들어 나가며, 눈에 띄게 화려하지 않아도 조용한 힘을 가진 것들을 제작하고 소개합니다.

 and the calm, focused time of handwork can be shared.

 Through making with our hands, we explore the value of craftsmanship —

 creating and introducing works that may not be loud or ornate,

 but carry a quiet, enduring strength.

수연소를 구성하는 단어들는 서로 유기적으로 연결되어 움직이며,
각각의 형태는 사람과 공예, 자연 사이에서 발견되는 것들의 평면적 모습을 담고 있습니다.
서로 다른 목적을 지닌 이들이 이 공간에서 관계를 맺고, 그 안에서 다채로운 경험이 만들어집니다.

수연소를 구성하는 단어들는 서로 유기적으로 연결되어 움직이며, 각각의 형태는 사람과 공예, 자연 사이에서 발견되는 것들의 평면적 모습을 담고 있습니다.

생명을 잉태한 형상을, 흙을 통해 표현하였습니다.

1. 조류, 파충류, 어류, 곤충 따위의 암컷이 낳는 둥근 모양의 물질. 일정 시간이 지나면 새끼나 애벌레로 부화한다.
암컷의 생식 세포, 유성 생식을 하는 생물에서 볼 수 있는 것, 수정 후 발달하여 배를 형성한다.
2. 아이나 새끼를 밴 형상, 혹은 완전 변태를 하는 곤충의 애벌레가 성충으로 되는 과정은 불안정하고 비정형적이다.
3. 번데기가 날개 있는 성충이 되었다.

‘000 Series’는 하나의 구성요소를 만들고 반복적으로 이어가는 방식으로부터 시작합니다.
원초적인 형태를 강조하고 싶어 유리질을 입히지 않은 소지의 자연스러운 질감을 그대로 드러내고, 서로를 연결하는 과정을 거쳐 고온에서도 무너지지 않게 견고해진 원형들의 단정한 곡선을 담아냈습니다.
빛이 흐르는 공간과 시간을 개인적으로 참 좋아하는데. 반구를 연결해 구조를 만들던 과정에서 틈 사이로 흐르는 빛을 발견했고 그 가능성을 확장해 조명으로 제작하였습니다.

우연적 성질

무유 소성을 하였을 때 소지 본연이 주는 느낌이 좋아 물성과 질감에 대한 실험으로부터 시작된 작업입니다.
거친 흙가래를 쌓아올려 소성을 하던 중 소성권장 온도를 넘어가 불의 힘을 버티지 못 하고 조형이 무너지므로 우연을 통해 다른 기물들을 사이 스스로만 무너져 형태를 갖추었습니다.

쌓아올린 흔적이 보이는 갈라짐과 거친 질감과 모래 속에 있던 알갱이들이 소지와 만나 고온에서 소성되었을 때 나타나는 화학적 반응, 불의 힘을 받으며 예상치 못한 방향으로 흘러가는 과정이 재미있었던 작업입니다.

 Each piece is strengthened through careful joining and high firing, forming calm, grounded curves.
In the process of building hemispheric shapes, light filtering through the small gaps caught my eye.

 This subtle moment expanded into a series of lighting objects—where form, structure, and light come together.

한 밤중의 식탁

하루를 마무리하는 시간에 식탁을 둘러싼 작은 소란과 짙은 분위기를 떠올리며, 그 감정을 테이블 위에서 사용할 수 있는 형태-주전자와 다과를 위한 플레이트, 빛과 향을 위한 것들 로 풀어냈습니다.

우연적 성질

무유 소성을 하였을 때 소지 본연이 주는 느낌이 좋아 물성과 질감에 대한 실험으로부터 시작된 작업입니다.
통상적으로 우리는 반들반들하고 잘 빚어진 자기의 형태를 떠올리곤 하지만, 흙을 다루는 과정에서는 거칠고 불완전한 모습이 포착될 때가 많습니다. 저는 원초적인 소지의 모습에서 역동의 아름다움을 표현할 수 있겠다는 생각이 들었어요.
거친 흙가래를 쌓아올려 소성을 하던 중 소성권장 온도를 넘어가 불의 힘을 버티지 못 하고 조형이 무너졌는데, 우연하게도 다른 기물들을 피해 스스로만 무너져 형태를 갖추었습니다. 쌓아올린 흔적이 보이는 갈라짐과

Accidental Formation

This work began with an exploration of materiality and texture, inspired by the raw surface of unglazed clay after firing.
While we often think of ceramics as smooth and refined, the process of working with clay frequently reveals its rough, imperfect nature. I was drawn to the dynamic beauty found in this primitive, unrefined state.
During one firing, I stacked coarse clay coils into a form. As the kiln temperature exceeded the recommended range, the structure couldn't withstand the heat and collapsed. But unexpectedly, it fell in on itself—avoiding damage to the surrounding pieces—and settled into a shape of its own.
The cracks left from stacking, the gritty texture, and the chemical reactions between sand particles and clay at high temperatures all created a surface shaped by fire. The process moved in an unpredictable direction, which made the experience even more compelling.

하루를 마무리하는 시간에 식탁을 둘러싼 작은 소란과 짙은 분위기를 떠올리며, 그 감정을 테이블 위에서 사용할 수 있는 형태-주전자와 다과를 위한 플레이트, 빛과 향을 위한 것들 로 풀어냈습니다.

At the end of the day, I recall the quiet noise and deep atmosphere that gather around a shared table.

 That feeling unfolds into objects meant for the table—

 a jug for pouring, a plate for small offerings, and pieces for holding light and scent.
